... a kind of scary thing I know I must do!

Fellow S&P-brains, loyal readers, and newcomers, your humble pubkeep has opened his spooky basement laboratory of mad monster-making to unleash his brand of magic on the Hallowe'en-loving world.

I have been creating my own kind of Hallowe'en art for years, and now it's time to offer my services, and my craft, to my fellow Autumn People...

I want to build you a piece of Hallowe'en art -- decoration, prop, animatronic talking, singing, moving, pumpkin, skull, raven, bat, robot, all from the mind and machinations of this Hallowe'en maniac.

Wouldn't you love to have a piece of S&P magic at your house at Hallowe'en and every other night of the year?

I will say, though, that there is a kind of catch, because there's just no way around it... it is going to be pricey, depending on what you want.

For something static (non-moving) as simple and cool as one of these flickering LED candled skulls (with or without jaw) decorations:

... it could be as little as $25 to $30 plus shipping. In this category are other types of LED candles and one of a kind decorative items handmade and created by yours truly and other select artists.

On the other end of the scale for something as fully realized as my famous Raven:

... which would come with a candled skull, stand, playback system and all needed cables and power supplies (minus sound system), it could cost as much as $3,000 plus at least $85 insured shipping.

Then again, for a large but 'simpler' talking/singing pumpkin head like that of my beloved creation seen on HGTV's Extreme Hallowe'en:

... things would be more likely in the $1500 range. Similar, and likely less expensive still, would be a simple skull which talks/sings, and has expressive eyebrow movement.

I will fully program them of course, and can even program them to say what you want them to say or sing what you want them to sing, free for up to 5 minutes of routines, and for an extra $50 per five minutes after that.

You must use your own sound system -- anything from inexpensive computer speakers to guitar amplifiers to the most tech-envied stereo set up in history, whatever you have on hand will work so long as it has an input to accept sound from the standalone payback unit or your computer.

Why your computer? Well, should you wish to forego the standalone playback system and run this piece of spooky art right from your own computer or laptop, then you could save yourself hundreds of dollars, and only have to purchase (elsewhere online) $80 worth of software (Brookshire's VSA software 'Hobbyist' version) to install and run from your computer. I will happily and patiently talk you through the entire process -- it is FAR easier than you think, trust me! -- and will gladly answer every question you have for as long as you require my help!

But you can dream big too, and if you wanted me to build something to your specs and fully from your own imagination, with sound system, playback system and everything thrown in, well... let's talk!

Yeah... I know it's expensive. I wish I could make it more affordable for even the poorest haunter or spooky art collector.

But these creations do cost a lot in parts and a LOT of labor. They will also take TIME to produce -- a week for a candled skull, but up to six or eight weeks for a Raven or similar large piece.

Still, they will each be a very unique addition to your spooky collection of ghoulish goodies, something you can't simply pick up at a big box store at ANY price because it is a true art piece, made by hand, with the love of Hallowe'en in every stitch, servo and serial wire in the heart of the good ol' U.S. of A.

Specific pieces and pricing will come soon, but don't hesitate to start writing or calling now. I will absolutely be dealing one on one with each customer, and find what works for both of us, from item to payment method to shipping and anything else, to get your desired creation into your ghostly gallery!

To request a good time to call you and get talking about your new acquisition, write me at:

... just remove the '_at_' and type in the usual @ in its place.

This is just starting up, and I know I will surely have a few stumbling moments as I begin this rather scary but exciting undertaking. I am moving from the music realm into truly offering my Hallowe'en creations to fellow Autumn People who I know appreciate it.

It's simply about time I did.

So... can I make something for you?

Yes, dear, long-suffering S&Pers, just a few weeks ago, this humble homely house celebrated it's 4TH year of spooky shenanigans.

FOUR years of the Skull & Pumpkin.

Now, I now this year has been lean, and the pickings slim, compared to the previous years, and much of that has to do with turmoil and unplanned moves in my life.

It's not going away -- this place will get back to normal when I do -- but these things go in cycles, and for now, it is quiet, thoughtful, and calm in here.

One reason for some of the turmoil is that today marks my 45th birthday.

Now, I am not upset or scared or freaked by turning 45. I certainly am not going through any crisis of life.

But I am going through some crises concerning my future career, the next part of my life that I will try my best to accomplish.

It demands thoughtful consideration, considerable emotion, and a lot of rigorously honest self-evaluation... and all of that takes time.

So here's to a few birthdays, and to all of us who find ourselves in limbo now and then -- it's good to know we're in this thing together...

... and that we have our Monsters, our Hallowe'en, to bring us back to life, every time.

A toast...

Happy 4th of July!

Ah yes, S&Pers!

It is the hot, sunny day and warm, firework-poppingy night when we celebrate how diverse, bizarre, messed up, wonderful and unique this little Noble Experiment called America has always been.

We here at the Skull & Pumpkin salute America, the American Dream, and the small but vocal group of American Citizens who hold dear their freedom to celebrate the darker side of life, who have a leg up on everyone else when it comes to dealing with fear, darkness and death... simply because they explore it all the year 'round.

God Bless America!

Shuffle ever onward, American Troops of Hallowe'en Love!

P.S. Watch this space for a special announcement coming very, very soon. You will soon be able to have some homemade, handbuilt Skull & Pumpkin goodies direct from the October Country... details will come in a few days.
